Artist’s Statement:
I try to stick with subjects that I know about and that are a passion of mine rather than just painting something because it’s a new fad or the latest trend in art. I use ancient societies and their mythology/religion as well as wildlife and domestic pets as most of my subjects because I have a deep passion for these areas. I feel that without knowing about ancient societies and how they thought and worked we are far too likely to take their contribution it. Also with how many members of the human race feel towards the environment and the animals who live I feel that painting images of big cats, birds, etc. will help bring a bit of nature to those who rarely if ever get to see it in person, and maybe, hopefully make them think about their part in this world s to our own society for granted. Description of work: I’m a self-taught digital artist. I use my computer for most of my pieces. There are a lot of influences on my work from nature to ancient history and I do strive for as much realism as I possibly can insert into my paintings along with my own take on how I see things. I do have a lot of respect for ancient Egyptian culture as well as wildlife and I feel that is presented n each piece I create. Where ancient civilizations are concerned, I try to incorporate what I’ve read about in regards to their society and how things looked and felt as well as adding some touches that make it a little more recognizable to today’s society and influences. When I paint wildlife scenes, I try to strive for the natural setting of the animal I’m painting as well as maybe a few touches to make the viewer think a bit. I’m extremely into the environmental movement and if any of my pieces will make someone think about how we’re treating the planet and those who live on it, then I believe my work’s been done. |
