The JCAC hosts four murder mystery dinners each year. These dinners have proven to be very popular and generally sell out quickly. For your convenience, we offer online ticket purchasing. (an online fee will apply) We also offer murder mysteries for private functions, organizational meetings, team building exercises and corporate events.

PUBLIC

The dinners are $25 per person and attendees become the investigators in the crime. We have two types of murder mystery dinners. Both of them involve the audience and in both of them the audience is encouraged to talk to the suspects and find study the clues to determine who dunnit.

INTERROGATIONS

Those who participate arrive at a special event, only to find a guest of honor, a celebrity, or other key figure has been killed. Once on scene you are seated in teams of six to eight. You can sign up as a team, or you will join others on a team. The suspects will be introduced and each of them will tell a little about themselves and their relationship to the victim.

Listen carefully here as you will hear important clues. You will also find (not so) cleverly hidden clues on your table. After you hear from the suspects you will go through the dinner buffet and over dinner you and your fellow investigators will examine the clues you have and begin developing your line of questioning.
After dinner your team will have an opportunity to interrogate each suspect. After all the teams have been questioned all the suspects, desert will be served and you will have one last chance to question suspects. Then, a member of each team will annouce who they believe is the guilty party. And finally the chief inspector will announce the final verdict.

MIX & MINGLE

These take on more a play format, but the action is happening around you. Keep your eyes and ears open because clues are constantly being dropped (as is the occassional victim). These have at least one victim, one motive, one means of murder - you never know when a weapon, (or vicitim) will drop in your lap. Dinner is generally a buffet that is opened after the first act, with desert being put out before the conclusion.

PRIVATE

JC Arts now offers its popular murder mysteries for private gatherings. Let us bring an exciting and memorable event to your next company retreat, party, or private event.

INTERROGATIONS

For an interrogation style murder mystery your group will be divided into teams. You will be introduced to each suspect, and receive several clues throughout the evening and possibly in advance by mail.

After you have met the suspects, each of them will be sent to an interrogation room and your teams will rotate through the rooms and have 5 minutes to question each suspect. Throughout the evening, pertinent information such as a will, a police report or coroner’s report will be delivered.

When all suspects have been interrogated detectives can mingle with the suspects one last time before they get together and as a team ponder the clues.

The meal is served before the interrogations begin and dessert is served after the interrogations. This format is more effective for small to mid-size groups.

MIX & MINGLE

Mix and Mingle are murder mystery plays, but the action does not take place on a stage - it happens all around you.

Your guests will need to remain vigilant as disputes might arise at their very table. Before they know it, the person sitting next to them might be dead.

Or, they may have gathered for dinner and drinks, only to find their pleasant evening interrupted by a loud obnoxious guest who gets knocked off.

Throughout the evening, your guests will learn clues and have an opportunity to question the suspects.

Dinner or hors d’ oeuvres are served throughout the event and between acts. As with all our events, your guests can participate as suspects, but will need to attend rehearsals in advance of the event.

TEAM BUILDING

We will bring your employees through a workshop event that will have them looking forward to your next training session, rather than dreading a long boring day.

The team building murder mystery incorporates all of the fun and excitement of the casual events, but adds team building activities that will guide the participants as they work together to figure out who dunnit.

Or, they may have gathered for dinner and drinks, only to find their pleasant evening interrupted by a loud obnoxious guest who gets knocked off.

They will walk away having learned a little more about the people around them, and ways to work together as a team to accomplish their day-to-day mission.

These murder mysteries are formatted around your company's needs and can start a day or two in advance of the actual event. For example, you or another member of your company team can be the victim. The day before the event a suspect will come to your office and loudly start an argument then storm off, you of course are quiet about what happened.

F.A.Q.

HOW DOES THIS WORK?

The first step in bringing a murder mystery to your organization is to give us a call, we can help determine what format is best for your event. Then we will choose the theme. We can tailor a script around a golf course, on a tropical island, around most holidays, and in many different eras.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

Pricing is based on which format you choose, how many guests you have, and several incidentals that you will decide if you want us to provide. Because each event is individually tailored, we discuss what you need and what we can provide within your budget.

WHO TAKES CARE OF VENUE & MEALS?

You can or we can. Depending on your needs and your budget, we can handle all the arrangements or make recommendations for caterers and the most effective location for your group. Murder Mysteries can happen in a church, in a home, outdoors, or any other location. In most cases, we do recommend for team events, they occur away from the work site.
