Local Arts Supporter receives Governor's Arts Award

The Junction City Arts Council is pleased to announce that Central National Charities and Mr. E. J. Rolfs are the recipients of the 2007 Arts Patron Organization Kansas Governor's Arts Award.

Central National Bank has operated in Kansas for 122 years and has a history of supporting the arts on community and state-wide levels. Chairman Emeritus Ed. J. Rolfs has been a driving force behind the ban's consistent dedication to the arts community. Throughout his banking career, Mr. Rolfs and the bank have accumulated a large collection of works by Kansas artists.

Central National Bank was a lead sponsor of the Homage to the Flint Hills, which toured the state from 2004 to 2006 including a stop in Junction City in early 2005.

Central National Bank and Mr. Rolfs are substantial contributors in Junction City toward many special projects including the Topeka Symphony with Five By Design performance in 2005 and the Mystical Arts of Tibet in 2006.

Mr. Rolfs and the bank assisted in the establishment of a permanent gallery for the Junction City Arts Council and donated ten pieces of work to start the gallery's permanent collection.

The Junction City Arts Council thanks Mr. Rolfs for all he has done to promote art in Junction City and around the state and applauds the Kansas Arts Commission for recognizing his contributions with this prestigious award.
