The first Premier Artist competition winner Kelli Just, a student at Tabor College, Hillsboro.

Just’s forte in art is watercolor, which many artists find to be more difficult medium than oils, which she admits she is not strong in at all.

“My professor keeps telling me that I am really restrained when I work in oil,” she said.

But, when she breaks out the watercolors, the paints flow in a very natural way. Under her guidance the colors blend and merge to create shapes and patterns in a seemingly effortless sweep across the canvas.
