C.L. Hoover Opera House

The C.L. Hoover Opera House in Junction City once again is host to great plays, musicals, and comedies. Inside the restored theater is equipped with the latest technology that will assure an unmatched visual and audio experience. Outside this famous structure has been meticulously restored to its 19^th Century design. The C.L. Hoover Opera House is now the area’s premier site for corporate retreats, family reunions, wedding receptions, and any event that needs the grandness found only at this Jewel on the Flint Hills!

About C.L. Hoover

C.L. Hoover, a local educator, lawyer, soldier, civic leader and philanthropist, provided the inspiration for the Hoover-Koken Foundation. He first came to Junction City as a young school teacher. After completing law school at the University of Kansas, he opened his law practice in Junction City. Except for his service in the Army Air Force during World War II, he continued his law practice until his death on October 8, 1983.
The law firm bearing his name, Hoover, Schermerhorn, Edwards, Pinaire & Rombold, continues to serve clients in North Central Kansas. He was an active leader in several community organizations including the Junction City Chamber of Commerce, the Association of the United States Army, the Geary County Bar Association, and the Junction City Rotary Club. He and his wife of 48 years, Martha Koken, hosted over 23 foreign dignitaries in their home through Rotary international programs. Since its incorporation, the Hoover-Koken Foundation has assisted over 300 deserving students with their post secondary education. The Martha K. Hoover Women’s Center at Geary Community Hospital was established in 1997 with the help of a gift from the Foundation.
